For our practical post today, I thought I’d share 10 interesting ways to use a notebook that you may not always see on a usual Pinterest list. This is perfect for when you have six pretty notebooks that you never use because you don’t want to ruin them. (Ask me how I know that happens!) I hope this is fun and helpful for you!
1: Food log.
Write down—or draw—what you eat in a day. Not only can this just be interesting and fun, but it’s also a great way to get ideas for meals later—just flip back and see what you ate a few months ago and take ideas from that!
2: Clothing log.
Another fun thing to either write down or draw. You could make it easy and just draw your outer outfit, you could get more complicated and write down things like jewelry and the way you did your hair, and you can even get detailed and write down all your makeup and other accessories. It’s definitely helpful to see when you look back at what you wore the last time you were at event!
3: Recipes.
Write down recipes—either in a folder or in a notebook. You could even color code them for different subjects, such as dips, drinks, and snacks. Personally, though, I prefer a folder for this, as I can move recipes around at will.
4: Bible verses you’ve memorized.
This could be a fun reward for yourself once you’ve memorized a new Bible verse. You could decorate the page, write in a cute new font, etc. Or instead, you could use the notebook to write down the verse you’re currently learning—it can help you remember better when you write it down.
5: Accounting tracker.
Write down every penny that you spend. If you want to get more complicated, try color coding it so you can see where most of your money goes. Coffee? Clothes? Online subscriptions? You could even write down what you spend of your parent’s money, which would be a very interesting study.
6: Random lists.
Make lists of vegetable types. How to solve a problem. Favorite fonts. Restaurants you want to go to. Quotes you love. Anything that comes into your head, write it down. I haven’t done this, but now that I’m writing it down, it sounds like a lot of fun. Maybe I’ll try it sometime…
7: Making/playing pen and paper games.
This could be games like sudoku (though that’s almost impossible to invent yourself–yes, I’ve tried it before), word searches, crossword puzzles, and more. You could copy them down and then solve them, or invent them and come back to solve them in a few months once you’ve forgotten your own answers!
8: Collages.
If you’re willing to print a lot, try making Pinterest-like collages in a book. They could be themed for all sorts of things: a book you love, certain aesthetics, your day, a tasty meal, etc. You could also draw your collage if you don’t want to print a million things out. :)
9: Draw new fonts.
Have you ever written out your own fonts? It can be hard to do, but fun too. Try wavy lines, darkening lines, dots, and more—the options are endless when you have your creative brain on!
10: Invent new groups of drawings.
Come up with five ways to draw a cat. Ten ways to draw a banner. Twenty ways to draw a flower. Again, the options are endless! There are a million ways to draw almost everything in the world.
I hope you enjoyed this list of 10 ways to use a notebook! I’ve only tried out two or three, but I’m inspired to do more—especially the random list one. I’d love to hear if you try one of these out!
