Tortillas are a wonderfully versatile food. They can be made into a wrap, a dessert, or even incorporated into a casserole! However, when found at the store they often don’t taste good- if they taste at all. Here is an easy recipe so that you can make some yourself! Yum!
Servings: 12 tortillas Cuisine: Mexican
Total time: 20-25 minutes

Ingredients:
3 cups of all-purpose flour
2 & ¼ teaspoons of baking powder
1 & ½ teaspoons of salt
5 Tablespoons of salted butter, at room temperature
1 cup of hot water
Directions:
In a medium-sized bowl, combine dry ingredients. Add butter and hot water. Stir until it begins to cling.
Sprinkle flour onto counter and turn out the dough. Knead until it forms a smooth ball- the dough is a “tough” dough, so you can add more water if you like. Place back into bowl with a damp towel and allow to rise for about 10 minutes.
Cut dough into 12 equal pieces. Form into balls. Lay a towel over all but one to keep them from becoming dry. Use a rolling pin or tortilla press to roll the remaining dough into a thin circle, about 8 inches in diameter.
Heat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Carefully place tortilla inside. Cook for 30-60 seconds, until little bubbles begin to appear under the surface. Flip and cook another 30 or so seconds, or until the bottom is light golden. Set on a plate and cover with a towel. Repeat with remaining dough. You may want to roll out one while another is cooking.
Serve warm, or save in an airtight container for up to 3 days. (Though I doubt they’ll survive that long- they’ll probably all get eaten the first day!)
